I hope Jack Horner doesn't mind having a third intern for the rest of eternity

So, I’ve decided that come May 14th, the Monday after graduating from Clarion, I’m just going to walk into Jack Horner as if I’m still interning here. You see, I’ve decided that I never want to leave.

Maybe they won’t notice? Maybe they won’t mind? Okay, they’ll notice, and they’ll mind. Especially when they turn my current desk space into a new interns work area. This plan will NOT work. But wouldn’t it be nice?

This whole “looking for a real job” thing is not enjoyable. I don’t like it, I don’t like the options, I don’t like any of it at all. The only thing I’ve realized from the search is that I really like PR agencies. Agencies are so fast paced—you do it all. The people at Jack Horner are great, you get to deal with all sorts of clients, you get to do all of the things you practiced and prepared for in college.

Yesterday was particularly fun. Freezing, but fun. I was in Clarion Monday morning (home to see family and friends for Easter) when I got a call from my internship supervisor, Stephanie. One of our clients, Heinz, needed people to work a promotion outside of PNC Park during the home opener for the Pirates game. Of course I jumped at the opportunity to help out. So I packed up my stuff, drove home (managed to be not paying attention and missed the Pittsburgh exit… adding 10 more minutes to my trip… got stuck in traffic… adding another 10-15 minutes to my trip), showered, got ready, and headed to the office to meet up with everyone for the event. All we really knew is that we’d be handing out promotional products from Heinz, and that we could dress casually—and warm, since it was freezing out.

We got there at 2:30, and ended up standing outside until 5:00, handing out Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce (a Heinz product, of course) to those leaving the stadium. Apparently I didn’t spend enough time outside determining how many layers I’d need, because I was convinced that a shirt, sweater, coat, scarf and pants would be plenty. Not the case. I think we were all freezing before we started, and I’m almost positive that I didn’t completely thaw out for almost two hours. It was a cold, cold, COLD day to be passing out barbecue sauce… But, it was SOOOOO much fun. I love those sorts of things. Talking to people? Fun! Anything involving not sitting in a cubicle? Fun! Making clients happy? Fun! Having less than a month left where I will get the opportunity to do those sorts of things? Not so fun.

Anyways, I guess in short, I’ve really been enjoying my time at the internship lately. But, a wise man once said, all good things must come to an end.

…and in other news… with absolutely no transition from one to another… life is good. Friends are good, family is good, Easter was nice, I’m still pretending to be ready to graduate, I’m looking at an apartment on Wednesday, waitressing is fun, and I’m really excited for this baseball game with Justin on Friday. Basically, I really have very little, if anything to complain about. (With the exception of this whole coldness thing and never wanting to leave JHC)

Hope everyone is having a good week! Until next time…
